Kai, meaning 'seed' in the Akimel O’odham language, features a menu that reflects Native American culinary history and heritage

At the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass, which is located within the Gila River Indian Community, the entire guest experience is aimed at connecting visitors with the heritage and culture of the Akimel O’odham people, from the art on the walls to the food at Kai, Arizona’s only AAA Five Diamond Award and Forbes Five-Star Award-winning restaurant.

The word “kai” means seed in the Akimel O’odham language and chef Ryan Swanson celebrates desert ingredients, including many that are raised and foraged on the lands of the Gila River Indian Community, in stunning preparations. The menu features items from Ramona Farms, of course, as well as local citrus and olive oil and items from the Native Seeds SEARCH Foundation, which, since 1983, has been working to “conserve and promote the arid-adapted crop diversity of the Southwest.”
