Prohibition's Impact
Prohibition destroyed the winemaking industry in Missouri. The government ripped out vineyards and burned equipment, leveling Hermann's wine-based economy. Once prohibition ended, the Puchta family didn't jump back into winemaking, but the winery stayed in the family and they made wine for friends and family. In 1990, Tim Puchta brought the winery back to life and today, it's helmed by Parker, the seventh generation of the Puchta family.
