Noboleis Vineyard Uses a Foeder When Making its Norton

It's not just breweries that use foeders! In the Augusta AVA, about an hour outside of St. Louis, Missouri, wine maker Gabe Miller uses a Foeder Crafters foeder when making his estate Norton at Noboleis Vineyard. Miller says that in a small or standard format barrel, you can over-oak wine, but with a foeder, you're able to maintain a fresher flavor and more character of the grapes used in the vintage.
