We are a sustainable sheep dairy farm, producing award winning, small-batch cheeses that are both traditional and unique, are good for you and the planet, and will delight your senses and bring joy to your heart.

Sarah Hoffmann founded Green Dirt Farm in 2002 to give form to her passion for good, clean food that is sustainably produced. Stretching over lush hills in northwestern Missouri, our farm is an Animal Welfare Approved® sheep diary where we understand that grass-fed sheep are the happiest and most productive ~ so, we take great pride in the care and wellbeing of our animals. We believe it’s why our cheeses have won so many awards, including 7 awards at the American Cheese Society annual competition last year; 3 Best in Class awards at the US and World Championship Cheese Contests in 2018 and 2019; and Good Food Awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Sheep’s milk is a wholesome alternative to cow’s milk that makes exceptionally yummy cheese. As we’ve grown we’ve partnered with other nearby dairies to provide us with additional sheep’s milk, and also, more recently, cow’s milk. Dairy farmers who join our program are grass-based and Animal Welfare Approved just like us. We work very closely with these producers to ensure that they are adhering to the same standards we hold for ourselves on Green Dirt Farm.
