Phoenix Bean sources its soy from small Illinois farms

Just about every Midwesterner has driven past a soybean farm, acres and acres of low, green plants stretching out as far as you can see.

In northern Illinois, near Chicago, farmer Harold Wilken of The Mill at Janie’s Farm is growing organic, non-GMO soybeans and delivering those beans directly to Jenny Yang. Jenny requires high quality beans to create the wide range tofu products she distributes to restaurants and stores across the Chicagoland area. Direct relationships like this allow Jenny to control quality and it gives farmers like Harold a reliable source of income that is based on relationships, not the commodity market.
