Recipe: Spicy Tofu Stir Fry
Recipe courtesy of Phoenix Bean Tofu
Jenny made this recipe to close out our Phoenix Bean episode and I can tell you, the results are delicious. It’s her mom’s go-to tofu dish. The mild tofu lets the sweet-spicy sauce shine. Served with steamed rice, this is a healthy, easy-to-make dish that should make your weeknight rotation.
| Ingredients |
10 oz. Phoenix Bean fried extra firm tofu
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped into 1-inch pieces
1/2 to 1 tsp salt
1 tsp hot garlic-chile sauce
1/2 tsp fermented black bean sauce
2 tsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp brown sugar
Cilantro or chopped green onion for garnish
| Preparation | Rinse tofu in water; pat dry. Cut tofu into six cubes per slice.
Heat vegetable oil on medium-high heat. Add onion and red pepper and stir fry 1 minute. Add salt, hot garlic-chile sauce and black bean sauce, light soy sauce and sugar. Stir fry another 3 to 4 minutes or until tofu is warm. Garnish with cilantro and/or onion; serve warm.
NOTE: For a spicier dish, triple the amount of hot garlic chili sauce.
