Over 7 Million Pounds of Rice

On the 800 acres at Castor River Habitat & Farm, they produce around 140,000 to 160,000 bushels. With 45 pounds of rice in each bushel ... this farm produces a massive amount of rice, which might be counterintuitive when most people think of a regenerative, sustainable farm. This is not a small farm and using regenerative practices has only allowed it to grow and thrive, thanks to healthy soil.

Castor River Habitat & Farm doesn't just grow and harvest rice, they've build a brand, so they also mill and package on site. By creating a brand, they've also been able to cultivate relationships with chefs and retailers across the nation who want to source high quality, sustainably farmed rice.

Today, you can find Castor River rice in more than 3000 stores. "It's evolved from hey, we want to be a rice supplier," says Johnny Hunter, "to now we get calls every week from people [who say] hey, we need to improve the sustainability of our menu."
